A Typical Therapy Session

A typical session lasts for an hour. 

During the first session we complete a questionnaire gathering background information.  Once completed we then discuss what you are looking to achieve from the hypnotherapy sessions.  This can be very different between two people who are on the surface presenting the same issues.

I then introduce you to hypnosis.  We discuss what happens during a typical session, what you can expect to feel and an overview of how hypnosis and hypnotherapy work.

How Many Sessions?

The number of sessions is very much determined by the presenting problems  and differs from person to person.  The following will give you a useful guide as to what you can expect:-

Phobias

IBS

Smoking

Eating Issues

Pyscho-Sexual Issues

Stress

Phobias

The heading of Phobias includes over 500 individual phobic responses.  The more common phobias include a fear of:-

spiders, injections, dental visits, heights, flying

Typically these phobias can be dramatically reduced and often eradicated with 3 sessions.

 

IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

This is an area in which I have developed additional specialist knowledge.  Please refer to the IBS page where you can find more detailed information about the treatment protocols.

In order to gain maximum long term benefit it is important to complete a full course of 12 treatments.  The treatments are held at weekly intervals and in between times you will be given a hypnotherapy cd to listen to on a daily basis.

 

Smoking

Based upon many years of successfully helping other clients to give up smoking you will be taken through the following three stages:- 

Session 1:-  I work with you to ensure that you really want to give up smoking and that you are not simply going through the motions through guilt or to please someone else.  We very quickly get into the hypnosis/trance work so that you become totally familiar and comfortable with the way hypnosis works  for you.

Session 2:-  Having already experienced the effects of an intensive hypnosis session and consciously ready to give up smoking we then take you back into a deep comfortable trance state.  This is where the work really starts - confronting your subconscious mind so that it has total belief that you are no longer a smoker.

Eating Issues

This a very wide area and needs to be discussed on a one to one basis. 

In most cases eating issues respond extremely well to hypnosis.  Some extreme eating disorders need to be dealt with under the direction of your GP or Consultant.

With regards to most eating issues you will need a 6 session commitment. 

 

Physco-Sexual Issues

Where the condition is borne out of mental stress and sometimes panic, hypnosis can make a very significant change.

Typically 6 sessions are recommended to allow you to achieve the maximum benefit. 

  

Stress

Stress can cause any number of problems within the body.

In order to control and to a large extent combat the negative feelings that stress causes you will be taken into quite a deep trance state so that you experience the feelings mentally and physically.

You will then be shown how to do this for yourself using self-hypnosis which you will be encouraged to practice on a regular basis.
